22 year old undergraduate is Miss Niger Delta Queen


A student of University of Port Harcourt, (UNIPORT), Stella Ebelechukwu, 22 has won the 12th edition of the Miss Niger Delta beauty pageant show which held at Grace Place Event Centre, Evo Road, GRA, Port Harcourt. She is also the new ambassador for Peace and Development for 2012/2013.
She defeated 20 other contestants from Niger Delta to win the crown. Other runners-up include Miss Iluma Becky Favour (Model for Change) from Bayelsa State, Miss Maxwell Orusoso Rita ( Face of Beauty and Ambassador for Cellfood Nigeria) from Rivers State, Miss Bassey Sandra Okon (Symbol of Talent) from Akwa Ibom State and Miss Princess Briggs ( Pride of Niger Delta) from Rivers State.
The pageant show was a world class event that was glamorous, spiced up with music, dance, professional displays. The new queen will work with her fellow beauty queens to promote peace, socio-cultural integration, youth talent development and awareness on empowerment and health related issues in Niger Delta. President of Miss Niger Delta Organisation, Prince Sodin, said; “ The show has been on for 12 years with sponsorship from development agencies like Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC), the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, the Office of the Special Adviser on Niger Delta/ Amnesty and the state government and multinationals operating in the Niger Delta region.
“ The Miss Niger Delta initiative is one project with a purpose, serving as a platform where talented female youths of the Niger Delta are discovered, trained and encouraged to develop their God given talent as a means of self-empowerment. These female youths are being trained to channel their energy in the right direction as role models of change and as young Ambassadors of Peace and Development in the Niger Delta.” He said.
